Hey, my A/C has slowly lost its effictiveness since last summer when I had it recharged (for an awful amount of money) by a mechanic. Where is the little nub that I screw the coolant can on to (along with its pressure guage and so on) located? Also, any recommendations on coolant brand? Should I get one that seals leaks since I seem to have one?

BTW, 2000 Contour with the duratec.

Low side pressure suction port is located by the battery, on top of the AC lines running the width of the car behind the radiator area. Black cap on top.

Don't overcharge.

Don't use 134A with Sealer. They don't work. Call the mechanic who charged it last and ask if he installed any trace dye in the system. With a uv light he should be able to spot the leak easily. If you aren't getting any cooling now you have a pretty big leak and it should be fixed properly.

Oh boy... Will probably be expensive. It's a slow leak, as the AC has been fine for awhile now (well it's lasted since last summer). I'll avoid sealant.

If it has dye in the system you could probably find the leak easily as long as you don't have a leaking evaporator.
What kind of service did they do to the A/C last year?
