Need my front wheel bearing replaced. Is it a DIY or mechanic job? How much should I expect it to cost?

I had a front one done a while ago, IIRC it was about $200 total.
There is a how-to in the Duratec Maintenance section. Looks pretty easy. I'll be doing my rear ones soon. Going to do it myself. The rears are much easier though.

Just had one done yesterday. Not sure on the cost yet as I haven't seen the bill yet. From what I understood they need to be pressed out.

I have had them done a few times now and IIRC it is about $400-500 give or take could be slightly higher but somewhere in that area.

Mine was for both fronts so it sounds about right compared to what Mark said. I have done mine at least 3 times I think. Just did the rears for the first time this year too.

Look for one hour labor to press the old one out of the hub and press the new one in (this is if you bring your hub in to a shop) plus the cost of a bearing (about $60.00...)
having it done is considerably more expensive.
Keep in mind that if you are going to pay anywhere close to $165.00 you can purchase a NEW OEM hub from Tousley Ford (steve) with a bearing already pre-pressed in it.. simply swap the old for the new at about 25 minutes of your time.

Had both fronts done a couple of years ago by a local Ford dealership for $300 total including taxes.
