Which one of these cat back systems should I get? I'm interested in the best performance regardless of price. The Bassani exhaust I think looks the best, but I'm sure I could get similar tips for the Borla exhaust...now just which one's the best? I need some experienced advice here...thanks Jonah T-Red SVT '00 No performance mods to date...except a K&N. Will be getting a KKM soon.

Bassani, had it on my SE... very nice but, $500 bucks is alot for 7 hp.... anyways i put on my stock SE exhaust, cut off the muffler, went to the track, ran .5 quicker and gained 3 mph... go figure, all i did was take off the exhaust...

I'm biased because I own a Bassani...
I read a older string that stated the Bassani with the tip resonators removed had a 1-2 HP gain over the Borla. All of this is also based on your intake. With my KKM and Bassani I have noticed a small increase in performance (.5 seconds) in acceleration but I have also noticed engine braking has suffered.
The Bassani without the resonators is quite a bit louder than the Borla but I really like it...

use the search: http://contour.org/cgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=search&search_forum=6 for "bassani" "borla". i'm also debating between the 2, but concerned about droning issues. waiting to meet up with antonio who has bassani to check out the sound. good luck!

Thanks guys...sounds to me like the Bassani might be the way to go...but I'd like to hear it myself too...I don't want it to be too loud.

i'm going to check antonio's out on thursday night. i'll let you know (IMO) how much louder the bassani is, and if i think it's too loud.

everything I've read on this topic states the bassani w/o resonators will get you 1-2 more hp than the borla. never hear bassani, but I hear it's kinda loud w/o the resonators. I went custom...i have one muffler in the middle, 2.5" piping, two strait pipes after the split, and that's it. Kinda like 99redse, but I have an svt (1 pipe vs. 2 pipes). It's honestly not too loud, and it sounds very badass. Might be cheaper (depending on materials), and could even produce more hp (1 muffler vs 2 in bassani).

I want to do this exact same thing but was concerned about the sound. I "want" it loud like the Bassani. Did you also have the Y-split redesigned?

Bassani (resonator tips out) gets PEAK gain of 7HP, so does Borla. But thats not whole story. If you look at the key 4K-7K RPM powerband, the Bassani averages 6.5HP over stock. The Borla is 3 over stock. However, the Borla has a bit more low end tourque 7.5 lb/ft vs 6 lb/ft 2.5K - 4K RPM. Probably becuase it has a bit more backpressure.
Bassani is louder though, very deep note (nothing ricy about this sound) and it does drone on the highway. I ultimately put in a 4" straight through resonator & the drone was eliminated, its a bit quieter, & it sounds great (to me anyway). But that makes the total cost $600 for both parts. Thats alot for a 7HP gain. But the sound, looks, & first rate stainless construction are worth something too. Still, a Y-pipe is a better bang for buck mod.

I got the Bassani. It is loud.
Sounds like a V8 when idling. Defintely rip out the resonators..sounds so much better. I had them in for 5 minutes and took 'em out.
