That's a hard choice. Both are nice vehicles.
I would probably have to side with the LS though. It seems to have a better chassis setup and less issues.

The LS has the better setup (RWD)
But damned if the Jag is the looker of the two. I really wouldn't mind a 3.0 X-Type sport (blacked out chrome). Probably put on some lightweight wheels and the damn thing wouldn't be so slow I bet.

Dispite my hate for AWD and underpowered vehicles, the X-type. I considered buying a new LS V6 5-speed in 2002, but the test drive greatly disappointed me. Way too heavy for the Duratec.

Probably just the fact that it's a Jaguar. Not exactly a bulletproof car.

The X-Type has suffered from much-worse-than-average reliability since inception.
That said, the LS is much more the driver's car in the way it drives and handles, even if the V8 is needed for power and you can't get a manual with it.

I'd go for the LS. My dad has an '03 with the sport package with the 3.0 and auto but it handles awesome. One of the best handling cars I've driven while still having a great ride. The V6 is a bit sluggish with the auto, but I bet the 5 speed would liven it up a bit. Make sure you get the sport package. Even with the V6 auto, I can steer the car during aggressive driving with the throttle pedal.(just dont let my dad know)
