I'm trying to figure this one out. A friend has a 95 Contour and it seems the turn signals and heater blower motor both stopped working at once. There is no power at the resistor for blower and none at terminals for flasher. However, the hazards work. The fuse for blower motor is hot. There is also no power at the blower switch...where is the blower relay and could this be a problem?
Does the multifunction switch have anything at all to do with blower circuit? I believe they are two totally different systems and should not be related. Probably a big coincidence...Maybe a circuit from the ignition switch...probably not....PLEASE HELP!!

Pull the blower fuse and connect an amp meter (20 amp range) in its place. Measure the current with the blower switch off then on (each position). Then replace the fuse, switch to volts and measure the voltage drop across the fuse in the blower off and on positions. Post your results.

Just a hint, the voltage across the fuse should be zero or almost zero. If the fuse is getting hot it indicates a voltage drop and current draw. The drop is likely from burnt or damaged fuse holder connectors (a common problem).

Last winter my blower switch stopped working (well, it worked occasionally), and my turn signals worked occasionally, but not often. The problem was with a fuse in the box under the dash. The same fuse (can't remember the number now) controls both functions. As it turned out, the fuse was okay, but the connection was loose. I took the fuse box apart and tightened the connection, and everything is fine now.

Ok, I got it figured out finally...makes no sense but here it is. It seems that of all things the backup light switch was shorting and when the fuse blew the turn signals and heater blower motor stopped functioning. Disconnect the back up switch and problem was solved. Thanks for the input from both of you
