Hi, Today I was using my subs and they started to make a "behhh behhh" like noise when I turned them up. Sounds like a plastic hitting noise or a magnet going on a fridge. When it makes this noise I still get bass and everything but it is still very noticable. If they are not as loud they sound fine. I took them out of the box and they look fine. Both of them are like this. I check all my connections already. What could this be??

Do they smell burnt? Every time I have blown mine there is a distinct smell, and then they start to make that plastic like sound you were describing. I had a set of the Audiobahn woofers they were great, I didnt blow them. I just wanted more trunk space, so I bought some eclipse 10". They are in a 2'^3 box. The eclipse 10's have deeper bass and sound more clear, but they dont have the air movement like the 12's I think if I had more power they might be about the same. My friend has the Audiobahn woofers in his car and they are still going!

The amp might be going out, do you have other woofers you could hook up? Maybe someone else will have some ideas. Audiobahns do sound good if you put them in a good box and have a good amp on them. You cant beat it for the price. I bought 2 Audiobahn woofers for the price of one of my eclipse 10". A friend of mine was telling me how the fire series are hard to get them to sound good. I dont know if its true or not. www.Legacy-audio.com I have the focus's on their web site. That is what I compare my car audio to. I went to a few of legacy's shows, one in St. Augustine FL. They had the whispers set up in a huge convention hall with 20' ceiling at least and the were popping the acoustic ceiling tiles out, and yet being the clearest bass and clearest sound I have ever heard! They only had it turned up a little over half.

Okay, let's not turn this into a Audiobahn post.... the person wants to know if the subs are blown, not how good they stack up against other subwoofers.
If they smell burnt, you could have melted the voice coil, but in my experience when you melt the vocie coil you do NOT get the same bass output. Other things could be the sub bottoming out, giving it a cracking noise when you play it too loud. If the bottoming out is the case, then we can talk about how crappy Audiobahn is. Did you recently change your EQ/Gain settings on your amp/HU? Let us know!

yeah, if they aren't blown, it sounds like the gain was turned up to high or the signal hasn't been through a low pass filter.
