Hello guys , my name is Peter and I live in sweden.

I'm driving a 2000 contour ST200 same car as your SVT contour and i spent loads of cash on improving the car (headers, exhaust, custom engine controll, tuned air flow with open filter etc etc.

I have recently bought a ZEX wet system and a Maximizer controll unit for that little extra for the strip and fancy takeovers.

I plan on using the 75hp nozzles I guess the engine can handle that with the progressive unit.

My question is (cause car speciallist stores in sweden cant help with custom stuff) what sparkplugs should i go with?

I'm currently using the same stuff that came with the car (Motorcraft) and the very long electrode scares me abit cause it will prolly heat up really really fast when i spray the nitro.

I've looked around here and you guys are miles ahead of us in EU when it comes to tuning this car so i'm putting my hope up on you for help with the correct plugs.

Any advice would be greatly appriciated!

Sorry if the spelling wasnt the best

Best wishes //Peter

welcome..and you'll find loads of info if you go to the bottom of the page and type in something like copper plugs or what plugs to use with nitrous...your looking for something two steps colder and copper

Don't spray the 'nitro' with the platinum plugs. For a 75hp shot, I'd go one step colder copper plug (personally I like the autolite coppers) and close the gap of the plug to .040-.045. However, NOS reecommends a gap of .035

www.sparkplugs.com should help you in cross referencing plug brands.

And yes, the 2.5L can handle a 75hp shot. The rule of thumb, is that an engine can 'safely' handle 50% of its stock rated hp via the nitro. i.e. 2.5L = 200, so it should be able to safely handle a 100hp shot.

Peter,
get yourself a set of NGK TR55's and gap them to 0.035"-0.045"

Wow that was some fast answers, thanks alot.

An addon question rised tho , one or two steps colder, what diffrence does it make in regards to engine safety contra how the car feels to drive when i'm not using nitro. (never toyed with nitro before)

I doupt we have autolite plugs here in sweden , i've seen NGK Bosh Beru and Champion , but there must be something that will fit this application

The car will get a new map when the nitro and the plugs are installed so tuning wise it shouldnot be a problem.

Thanks again for the fast answer , this site is just packed with knowledge.

best regards //Peter

The car should not behave much different with the smaller gaps maybe some loss in mileage, but not too bad.

Don't mess around with Bosch and Champion - they are very sketchy on plugs, especially Champiuion, I wouldn't use one in my lawnmower!

The NGK's are THE preferred plug by race engine builders ALL over the world. That tells you something!

That's the stock heat range.

While they should be safe for up to a 75 shot I would not use them at any higher level of nitrous.

If you want a colder plug then go to the TR6.

After 30 minutes on the phone he came back and said "i have them for you tomorrow"

Install booked on monday , cross your fingers for me
