I fought that issue for two years, and finally gave up on fixing it "correctly". I could turn on the ignition, before I even started the car, in the winter time when it was cold, cold, cold, and the fan would still run. At the same time, sometimes when everything was very hot, the fan would not run at all. I had replaced the wiring, relays, ECT, ac pressure switch, etc. No luck. Finally, I un-hooked the fan from the wiring, and installed a stand-alone thermostat which controls only the fan. The computer no longer has any connection at all to the fan. It is operated solely by the new thermostat that I installed. I did it about 2-3 weeks ago, and so far, everything is working fine.
One other thing, the kit I bought was a Hayden (I think). The fan motor was drawing so much current that I kept shooting a fuse in the Hayden unit when I first hooked it up, so I had to install a secondary relay inline to keep from shooting the fuse. Anyway, as of right now, it's working just fine. The unit is adjustable, so you can pick the temperature that you wish to have the fan engage. I have not yet wired the ac into the unit so it will run all the time when the ac is turned on......that's my next job.
