My local tranny shop ordere a close-to-OEM Luk cltch kit for my SVT. Are Luk clutches good an/or reliable? It has a 12-month or 12,000 mile warranty, so it can't be TOO shabby, right?

The whole kit (clutch, slave and master cylinder, and throwout bearing) costed about $350. The guy said he's been using this brand for years because he's had good results with it... Has anyone had or heard of someone having trouble trouble with these clutches? Are they of good quality?

Buying the SVT parts is much cheaper.

Heck even the SPEC Stage 1 is cheaper.

Either way you go you ONLY use a OEM Ford T/O bearing.

Buying an stock replacement aftermarket clutch is just that. For a "stock" replacment.

Just put one in, they are made for the SVT specifically but are sold to both. However, i only have 600mi. on it, and only 100 of that were fun miles. As of now, no complaints what so ever. LuK designs clutches for many high performance platforms such as srt-10 dodge ram and corvettes. Just a thought. $350 though...i guess i did get a good deal.

I went a few minutes ago and told the mechanic about the slave cylinder often not being the correct one in the V6 kits, how the 4-banger slave cylinder is shorter, and he double-checked and compared the new slave cylinder to the old one and said everything matches up.

Can you order a throwout bearing alone? Or does it only come with a clutch kit?

my LuK T/O bearing / Slave cylinder looked 100% identical to the one i ordered from bill jenkins except there was no ford logo stamped on it. I decided not to chance it and put in the ford one. Call Bill Jenkins at signature lincoln mercury. IIRC they are $75

I got one from Bill and it went bad right away.

He is making it right by sending me another part, overnight.

Thank you, Bill

Now it just sucks to get back in there and tear it all apart again.

Even true with the T/O bearing that comes packaged with the Spec clutches?

Yes, my current clutch (SPEC Stage II) was the lasteste WRONG one. According to SPEC though, they only use Ford OEM t/o bearings.....weird since mine was wrong....
