as some of u guys may know i was in a car accident back in march. well it been 3 months since my loss and i still dont have my car back. damn on the car is 16700 they keep finding more junk thats broken. plus over 2000 in car rental. some one explain to me why wont state farm just total the sob.

find blue book value of the car.. then subtrack the damage costs from the blue book value.. (not sure weather or not to include rental expenes) But once the damage cost is greater than blue book, they will total it out.. thats how it works at our bodyshop...

I thought it only had to be 80% of BB? What kind of car was it?

I heard before for it to be totalled it had to be more than 120% of the KBB trade in value.
Tow the SOB thing to the insurance office, and show them the GD thing is totalled.

Wrong 80% of Trade In Value makes it eligible to be totaled.

I'm almost POSITIVE the insurance company has seen the car.  Any "decent" insurance angent will look the car over with a claim, the owner, and the body shop. I'm sure they have pics and know just as much info as Nitro does.
Have you SIMPLY stated you DO NOT want teh car fixxed and that it WILL NOT be the same?! Just simply stating this will usually work. Do you owe money on the car? Even more reason to total it. No use paying for a car that will rattle, squeak, track funny, and not run like it did.

There have been 7 supplements on this car. its been 3 months the body shop keeps finding more damage. also its nearly done, i really dont have faith in the car any more. i know teh bodyshop wher ei have it is really good and do a great job, but my problem really lies with the engine. because it is a boxer engine it took a hit. first the insurance claimed no engine damage.
but as the car was getting repaired they found that the valve cover was cracked, timing belt was damaged (i believe it might have even skipped a tooth or two) and it had low oil because some of the while spilled out because the oil filler tube broke off (completely on other side of engine) and a plastic T-coupler broke on the side it was hit. and oil leaked/spit out.
i really really love my car, but its realy starting to piss me off. how do i know there isnt gonna be more damage that wasnt found while it was getting repaired.
I need info on how to check engine for internal damage with out taking it appart.
i know compression check and cut open oil filter. is there anything else i can do.

I was quoted 70% from State Farm, so I got a rebuilt car. Now it's Hector's lady friend's car.

It really depends on the insurance company, really. as for the engine, have the car towed or have an engine mechanic look at teh engien and CERTIFY is is damaged and NEEDS replacement. If that boxer engine ran with low oil for a mear few seconds, it's dman near shot. Also, good luck with the timing on that, I hear they are an absolute [censored] to fix. That all sucks alot!
