What is the volume of the 3.0 liter head?
What is the big end ( crank journal) diameter? I'm still working up a rod/ piston/ bore size combo to get to 9:1 c/r for boost.
It seems that the good old 4.6 V8 piston is close in bore size 90 vs. 89 mm and pin diameter and compression height is dead on.
Manifold pressure is good

Hey good find on the V8 piston! This might work out pretty good since there are plenty of forged pistons out there for the 4.6

I'll have to check when I get home to get those specs for you. What about the RW pistons? Not going to try those anymore?

On the rollerwave front , we need six sets frown .I wonder what the dish is on the 3.0 piston is...the stock 4.6 is dished also. I wouldn't be suprised if it's the same , but at least we will be a lot closer to a boosted 3.0 than we think

What's the rod length and stroke on the 4.6? On the 3.0? I have those in the FRPP catalog at home, but if someone knows them, we can figure mathimatically (SP?) what the head volume is... As long as the rod length and stroke are the same, with the same pin to hat height... this could be the find of the century for really big honkin HP in a Contour. Happy happy joy joy...

According to Dave's 3 liter FAQ , the 2.5 head volume is 45 cc. We need to find out what the 4.6's chamber volume is.Still, having come commonality should let us sneak in some Mustang parts.Pin to hat height is dead on between the two.

Thanks Matt. Anybody know the comression ratio on the 4.6 or the head volume? One variable away from knowing what piston to get...
