I needed more than my NA 2.5L could provide and didn't want to do the 3L swap so what was my answer? Turbo!!! Unfortunately it wasn't with the 'tour. Just picked it up today and am looking to follow in Warmonger's footsteps. I haven't taken pictures of my car yet but this'll give you a good idea: I'm really going to miss my Contour "go kart" as the "R" is about 500lbs heavier. I'll still be lurking for a long time to come as this is the place where I found out how good cars could be.

Are you really worried about 500lbs in that car? I don't think you have a thing to worry about, except red and blue lights behind your heavy laden foot!!!

Made me proud... Crispus can testify. Did you get it in that colour? They are really nice, congrats on your purchase.

WoW! I have been having a pretty good time with my S40 T5 AWD but an R is a totally different animal. Of course I got the smaller S40 and still have the tour though.

Thanks for the kudos guys. My original plan was to wait for a SVT version of the Fusion but I figured it would be at least 3 years out if I didn't want to get first year production. My car is Black Sapphire Metallic and I'm not sure if the color in the pictures is that color or Titanium Gray (which I really wanted)
The tipping point was that my brother got an "R" in April while his wife picked up a S40 T5 FWD. I couldn't get Volvo's out of my head after that. I was very impressed with the S40. I loved the dash ( I wish it was in the S60R) and the power of the turbo. Warmonger is right in that the S60R is a different animal although the power delivery on the S40 T5 seems smoother across the rpms. When staring my Dad's Z plan and $4000 rebate cash in the face, I couldn't refuse.
Boost comes on hard at ~2000 rpm and falls off rather dramatically after ~5200 rpm. I'm hoping an upcoming ECU softloader will take care of programming better response across the rpms without alerting the service guys that something has been done. I also have a water/meth injection system that I never installed on my Mustang that I hope to put to good use.
Warmonger, what are your plans if you end up selling the 'Tour? We could definitely use your abilities in Volvoland. Now if we could just convince Demon, Stazi, and others to cross over we could do some cool things.

I'm on swedespeed.com as ghodge. I'll have to check out those other forums you mentioned. It would be nice if I could find one that was more technically inclined (not slamming swedespeed.com).
