I have one of jc's shields and they work real well.

If it's true that we are here to help others, then what exactly are the others here for?

I can't figure out why someone hasn't figured out a way of making a CAI that pulls in air from the fenderwell. I traded in a 93 Sentra SE-R that had a Place Racing CAI on it, and it really added some HP to that little four banger. However, it wasn't so much the positioning of the filter in the wheelwell as it was the length and diameter of the pipe. The CAI was designed so that the combination of the length of the pipe and the fact that this CAI actually began to taper wider at the end I think are the reason it made about 8 HP at the wheels.(It was dyno'd in Turbo/high tech performance magazine) BTW, to install this CAI, you had to actually cut a section of metal from around the stock air intake hole to make the pipe fit correctly. Why can't some company build soemthing like that, instead of a "CAI" that sits right where the air from the fans hit??? There was a company that was talking about building a similar system to this, but I think all they make right now are Mustang and T-Bird parts ...Does anyone know the company I'm referring to? confused

Hey Simon96SE --

All this talk makes me doubt that aftermarket air cleaners are all they're cracked up to be, especially considering the temperature of underhood air.

BTW, why the need for "heat shields" with aftermarket air cleaners? So far, I'm convinced me to stay with the stock air cleaner for a daily driver.

For the most part about the "heat shields" i agree with you. I mean I live in Las Vegas and it's hitting 110 degrees now, give another month and we'll be in the 115 - 120's im sure. Back to my point, I have NO heat soak that I can tell. So yeah, whats the point?
May have alot ot do with the type of heat we have, it's VERY dry and not at all Humid which is what I could see bogging down the KKM if anything.
You can REALLY tell the difference when you have a KKM compared to the stock air box. It REALLY does help throttle reponse. I dont know about your Tour, but before I installed mine I had a very slight "play" in the gass pedal. Like, at a stop light, if i pushed on the pedal, nothing would happen, I could feel the pedal moving like it was loose, then after maybe 3/8 of inch I would feel tension and the revs would kick in. Well, when I installed the KKM the first thing I noticed was that the "play" in my gass pedal was gone. Now when I push on the gass pedal it feels alot more responsive and the rev's kick in right away.

And it DOES improve HP. The KKM and Stock air box is like night and day.
Totaly different and well worth the money.
