The sound is great and everything but can u expect more of a performance gain by installing the weapon-R instead of the kkm drop in kit? people who have the weapon-r, drop a review because I'm really interested in this mod. Thanks.

I dont think the KKM has been dynoed yet, but the Weapon-R has proven to give a gain of at least 5 HP and up to 8 HP i believe.

Do you think the 98 and up 4 cyl intake will work on my 97 tour? I don't want to spend the money and not have the setup work? Or should I just go for the kkm? Any opinions on this?

I have had Weapon R on my cougar for about 6 months now and it has been a pretty good intake. It makes all the right noises and looks pretty nice in the engine bay (I have an aluminum intke with red trim and dragon filter). If you are intalling an intake expection a big increase in horsepower, you will be disappointed. 5 hp is really nothing. you can't feel it. I personally like the way Weapon R looks over KKM but they are essentially the same.

bzcat is right. You're paying an extra $50-60 for a better sound when accelerating, better looks (chrome or colored), and maybe an extra 2-3 hp increase with the Weapon-R. But i think that extra $50-60 was well spent. The Weapon-R looks awesome in the engine bay, makes an ominous wail when you stomp on the gas, and probably does out power the KKM by a tad.

Are there any modifications required for it to fit the SVT? Does the filter butt up to the fender inlet? Anybody have a pic of it installed?

the KKM doesn't include a post MAF pipe like the weapon r. there's your $100 extra. The KKM has been dyno'd on SVTs, search for it. Has the weapon r been dyno'd on a contour, or is that info just from the site? I think it should fit an SVT, but I don't know for sure. HTH

BLK98.5SVT, go to Weapon-Rs homepage at Weapon-r.com and you should find dyno results there. If not there...try Importstudio.com. BTW, the Weapon-R will fit on all Duratecs --- whether it be Contours, Mystiques, SVTs, or Cougars.
