Sure that would be great, to know about the history of the SVT. I'm not sure what time I can call as I tend to work odd hours being a self-employed IT Consultant. PM me or e-mail me at Christian.Turner@TurnerComputerSolutions.com if you want to make a head start, otherwise I'll call when I can. Thanks for this, really appreciate it! Christian.

He was doing very well the last time I saw him. I hope to be able to go see him again as soon as I get the new car. I'll post how he is when I have an update.

Welcome to the gang, Christian, but if it's not too late, don't call Harry. You don't want to know the evil past of that car. The new engine is easy to explain - Harry has only one real leg, the left. His right is a prosthesis, solid lead.

LOL
I never did get round to calling Harry after all. At the time I was driving my wife to work, working myself, then driving the kids. Ended up being a 5am-12:30am day, so I was pretty much burned out.
She drives like a beaut though, I'll say that. I can feel the rear strut brace, makes for a very interesting experience. Feels like the rear is going to kick loose, but I think what I'm really feeling is a little extra bite ... the same way that you feel a little unsure with brand new struts/springs.
Have to wonder though ... who's fault is the rough tranny ... I was told the dealer's son used it as a play to, so could be anyone. Plenty of rough noises coming when in gear ... luckily I'm in contact with another expat who is going to fix her up and throw in a Quaife (once I get tax refund).
The rest of the evil past has my curiosity piqued ... should I call her Christine ??

I almost wish my car was like Christine....odometer rolls backwards while you are driving....the car fixes itself.
Ahh, to dream......

Tranny noises, eh? I wonder what that could be? Truth be told, I don't think Harry was an especially spirited driver, but he was not the only owner, and these cars are fun to push out near the limit. Problem with that is, I don't think the clutch and the tranny on these cars are strong enough to handle the performance provided by other components, e.g., motor, suspension and tires.
Mine has almost 103,000kms on it now, and the tranny is still smooth and quiet (except for the wintertime stiffness getting the lever into first and reverse that's common to them all).

My old Mystique was at somewhere between 168,000km and 170,000km when she was done in. The clutch was original and she shifted perfectly ... except for a bad blocking ring which only played up in winter weather, and a little slippage at the top end. Just looking at the purchase doc the other day I bought her with approx. 100,000km on the clock. Driving spirited doesn't have to damage the tranny, bad shifting is what does it most of all. Still, this one in the CSVT just means I have do get Terry Haines to build me a Quaife installed tranny ... YAY !!
