Is there anyway to get your tower off when car is still in gear???? something broke, and my car is stuck in first gear, and I cannot get the tower out to see whats wrong ot to fix it!?!?!?! HELP PLEASE!!!

I'm no expert by far but unless whatever broke is on the inside you should just be able to take it out of gear moving the shift tower. I just recently changed cables on mine( by the way thats usually what breaks and leaves you stuck in gear) and I had no problem moving thru the gears by hand with the cables off.
Your shift tower is on the one that moves it up & down(5th to R) the other one moves it side to side(drivers side of car towards pass side).If your shifter is moving but you're still stuck in gear its your cables. If your shifter is feeling hung (inside the car that is),I have no Idea, but I'd pop the cables out and try to move the tranny so that you can tell which it is. By the way there are 2 connections on the tranny, one has your tower on it, If you get them both vertical your in neutral. HTH!

can you move the shifter all over like there aren't gates anymore? if so shift tower bolt snaped off.

I have had that happen, but its not that. I have the top part of the shift tower all taken apart, and the "bolt thing" that goes down moves freely, so i think it is something kind of inside the tranny that broke, and its stuck in gear so the tower wont come up.

Any Ideas?

I was also confused as you are. The top plate covers just the very top of the mech. The shifter bolt is inside the piece your tring to remove. This very same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I also removed the very top cover. And I like you thought the shifter bolt was in there. Its not.
Since its stuck in a gear your going to have to wiggle, turn, shake, twist the thing out. Its alot easier with the top trans mount removed. Mine was stuck in 3rd so I had to angle the tower and twist. It took a few times but it did come out.
