Our Mystique (2.5/ 5 Speed) has over 200,000 miles and driven hard, auto-x and everything else (Track days, SCCA School). No problems until now. Crankshaft Sensor wires are breaking down. Wire insultion has started to crumble into small bits. I noticed that most of the other wires are also doing the same. It must be due to bad wires, or too much under hood heat. Any views? Do I rewire the whole system, or what? A very good car, would like to keep it for a few more years. It is the fastest Mercury in Louisiana!

That was a recall.
Get a wiring harness, or if you're down for it replace the wires yourself. Use good wire and wrap the main bundle for the injector harness good.
