I was toying with the idea of supercharging or turboing my 98 E0 for a project/hobby...after all I'm the original owner, the car is paid for, and it's not a daily driver. ...in reality, there's nothing really left to do to the car and I'm trying to keep the car interesting as I still like it after 8 years of ownership (or I'll end up selling it for a fraction of it's sentimental value)...
Anyways, I called Vortech last week to see if the kit was still available (doing my research 1st...already know about the ADC turbo) and despite the bad rep, the kit is still available as a "tuner kit" w/o the chip tuning...you have to find a company to do that seperately. It's acually still on the website under the "news" heading. According to the guy I talked to, the jackshaft issue was resolved with a pin drive system vs. the keyed shaft of before.
My question is this: Why is the vortech kit a POS vs. the turbo? On mustangs, etc, this supercharger is reliable and does not overtax the engine/tranny internals. Is the CSVT engine/tranny not up to the task or is the kit poorly designed? What parts fail on the supercharger kit?
Any expertise from this board would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance, T
