could i drop the 3L into a 4 cyl contour mtx? - yes....if you got lots of $$$ to spend

would the trannys match up? - no...you need a v6 tranny, teh bellhousing is different

you would need the v6 subframe, computer, wiring harness, and loads of other stuff. much cheaper to find a v6 with a blown engine for cheap, sell your car, and replace the blown v6 with a 3L

If you got the V6 with MTX and then could fabricate any necessary mounts to bolt it to the subframe I would say it would work. You wouldn't be able to use the zetec trans though.

SOME MTX subframes allow the use of either V6 or 4 popper

BUT, yes.... a donor car is the way to go and is not hard to come by.

Still needs the axles, MTX, both harnesses, pcm, sensors, etc, etc...

Oh I agree, but if the donor car had the 2 bolt style LCA's he could opt to retain the 4-bolt LCA type subframe that is on the car now.
