I searched the current and archived forums but no luck. Its time for a new battery and Im a little confused on what to get. Here are my choices:

1) Autolite (Kragen) - $69.99 - Group 41, 675 cold cranking amps, 835 cranking amps

2) Duralast (Autozone) - $59.99 - Group 40, 590 cold cranking amps, 735 cranking amps

3) Energizer (Pep Boys) - $69.99 - Group 40R, 590 cold cranking amps

Anyone have experience with these and can recommend? Why are these all a different "group"? I live in Northern Cal, so cold temp is not a problem for me. Thanks...

Have you considered Motorcraft? I just replaced my original battery on my 98 about 5 months ago with the same for $59.95 from my Ford dealer. Funny thing is that my original was still working fine. Just thought it was about time.

I did, but out here the stealerships charge too much - $84.99 for the replacement, and its not even available.

Save up and get an optima red or yellow top, they're great batteries.

Yeah those are nice, but over $100. Can't justify the cost right now.

Yes they are pricey, but honestly if you can hol dout long enough save up for it, they will never die on you, and it will be great if you ever put in a system.

Well, I bought the Autolite from Kragen and it does not fit. Its too wide and almost hits a hot coolant hose. Going back to get one from Autozone.

Ummm, NO, dealership has the factory Motorcraft battery for $59.95, and a better battery for something like $79.95. Beats the price for a DieHard, and Motorcraft batteries are just as good as anybody elses'.

I would get the latest Nuclear infused ultra titanium battery. Some people are saying that these batteries will last like 12-20 yrs, and could be used from car to car. They have like a inversion check valve that never allows the holding charge to draw them down. They also have twice the normal amount of acid in them compared to a normal battery. They crank out at like almost two thousand cranking amps. If your going to get one...I would get the green one with the side glowing illumination, they look awesome at night.
