Do you have any problems with air filter getting wet when driving in the rain? How low does it relocate the air filter? Anybody with pics of this from under the car? Thanks in advance.

I haven't had any problems to this day with the filter getting wet, the filter sits directly above the black plastic splash shield on the back of the front airdam. I prefer this setup over the KKM, but be careful, the SCA pipe is a little tough to get into place the first time and those factory air intake mounting points will scratch the polished piping. Trust me, I know!

I really like mine. I didnt get the monster flow air filter however. I used the one that came with the KKM.

Since the stock airbox gets cold air from the wheel well, is there any way to improve it by, say, using a different kind of filter element in the rectangular box, or widening some particular constriction like maybe the triangular tube that comes in from the wheel well?

I second this question, any theories?

Well since you asked. On the SVT, if you look at the inside of the fenderwell boot, the most constricted area is where it goes straight up before pointing at the engine to recieve the airbox. I measured it at about 4x7cm or 28cm2. Now if you shine a flashlight in there and in the fenderwell from below, you can see that the opening into the engine compartment is at least 2x as big. What I will be doing (as soon as my modified Miks heat shield arrives, which is modified to be a more complete enclosure - an air box), is to cut away the boot down to the inner fender and over to the battery. Should double the fenderwell airflow into my sealed off airbox/KKM filter. Then I'll dyno test stock airbox/K&N vs custom airbox/KKM. The KKM has been shown to flow alot more air but at a higher IAT - thus little increase HP (about 2HP) over SVT airbox/K&N. With real cool air to the KKM, power should be gained (recall that each 10 degrees increase in IAT costs about 1% HP and the KKM ran 30F hotter = 6 HP lost on an SVT!).
Prediction - I'm going to find that the KKM/airbox gains 6HP over the K&N instead of 2HP.

Dan, very interesting. I'm very interesed in your setup, please post pics (if you can) when you're set up. I've been thinking about ways of freeing up/improving that black beast that my airbox hooks up to. I'll try the flashlight tonight and see what I can see!

I have the Injen Cold Air Intake and have noticed no problems. I did the hand check to feel for water and nothing. There right about the plastic guard blocking most water. However i would still stay away from big puddles.

Hey guys, I made my own CAI/heat shield. It uses the KKM filter but hooks up to the stock inlet to draw cold air in. An awesome sound now and much harder pull! Will post pics soon....
