Hey guys I am trying to get some [censored] done to my car while I am overseas and I am looking for some insight from any knowledgable people or anyone with this setup.
What would the best tire be for my 2000 SVT Contour with Intrax lowering springs and the 17x7" SVTF wheels... Obviously I don't want rubbing issues and minimal wheel gap. Specific tires and best place to buy would be much appreciated.
Thanks...

I had the same set up on my 99 svt until i upgraded to 18s. 215/45/17 will be perfect which is what the svt focus comes with. I suggest Discount Tire Direct Ive bought 3 sets of wheels and tires from them. PS negotiation

225/45-17 for most cars.
235/45-17 for high powered cars. (3L or better)

What offset do you need to run with 235's? On stock wheels my 225 almost rub the rear strut.
98 csvt t-red.. sho-shop intake, b&m, fidanza, spec1 clutch, Torsen, DMD,optimized Y& TB, Brullen, rear strut bar,h&r's,17" konig traffik's.

I agree on the 225/45/7 recommnedation,
however
I'd go with a 235/40/17 to prevent rubbing

Tom runs 235/45-17's on SVTF rims and has the BAT kit as well. (~1" drop)
No rubbing.
If I went to 17's I would run 235/45's. (25.3")
225/45's are very close to stock diameter at 24.9"

The diameter of a 215/50YR16 BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW tire (the stock tire on a 1999 SVT Contour) is 24.3" - the diameter of a 235/40YR17 BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW-2 tire (my tire of choice) is 24.4" - looks pretty close to me.
I know, I know, my 1998 SVT Contour came with 205/55ZR16 Goodyear Eagle GS-C tires (24.8" diameter), but after I install the Koni Sport Kit on my car it will be 40mm lower so 25" (or larger) diameter tires will get very close to the fender lip. I just figured that "wouldnâ??t be prudentâ?.

Correctamundo! I have loaded the whole family in the car and no issues so far, no rubbing. I do have to qualify that by saying I've only tested the Falken Ziex 512 tire in a 235/45 size though.
