Most insurance rates dropped because of some deal reached between the companies and the province of Ontario. You may have had a ticket or points from the past that have come time to come off your record. Or, it could have been a clerical error

I assume that it will go up. but how much will it go up. They can't double my rates can they? currently it's 95 bux a month, I mean they can't put me up to 200 bux a month. I've got a clean record except this.
I do accept the fact that I didn't see the posting, it just sucks is all. I'm not saying the cop was wrong or anything... He was doing his job, just pourly posted signs...

IIRC it's 25% increase for every 2points unless they have changed it.

You might want to consider going to court and making this point.
I did this once (got dinged at the Lakeshore exit off the QEW eastbound - drops to 50kph real fast, but the sign is on the curve - or it was before the reconstruction) ...
anyway, as it turns out the judge travelled the same road every day and agreed with me about the poorly placed sign - gave me a "conditional discharge" which is essentially the same as "not guilty."

yeah i have to agree, id go to court and make a case for yourself. I read a couple articles today that made the point that it never hurts to try and get your ticket reduced. You got everything to gain and nothin to loose.

well he already "dropped it" down some. so if I try to fight it, I run the risk of it being raised back up? no?

Wouldn't happen ... the cop would never admit in open court that he dropped it in the first place; besides, it wouldn't be worth the Crown Attorney's bother - it's just a speeding ticket.
Going to court = might be found not guilty cop might not show up, charges dropped charges might be reduced even if found guilty, a delay in the inevitable insurance rate hike
Not going to court = no chance at all

Hi Hate to tell you this, but the cop most surely can say that he dropped it. It is at his or her discretion to give you the ticket at whatever amount they see fit. Actually, the first thing the cop will say on the stand is that they clocked the person at whatever speed they were actually travelling, and will then say what they gave the ticket for. Erik
