I have a '99 SVT that I am just now ready to mod. I am not mechanically-inclined but love my SVT and want it to be all that it can be.
I need advice on the following: 1) KKM True-Rev induction: sounds like a good mod. Bolt on, right? 2) Pro-Flow 75/80 mass airflow meter: the forums don't have much positive to say about this. Sounds like something to leave to the more adventurous. Opinons? 3) Superchip: I bought one, but haven't installed it yet. I know some have had good results, others poor results. My code is MNQ2--anyone else with this code? 4) Will the KKM induction (or other mods) affect the Superchip? That is, am I doing all this in the wrong order? 5) Will the chip fix the hesitation that makes the RPM drop slowly around 5K RPM? 6) Otherwise, will the throttle fix described on this site affect the superchip in anyway? 7) Soon I'd like to upgrade the exhaust. Any suggestions? Again, will the chip need to be reprogrammed? (Any idea what Superchips charges to reprogram?)
I know this is a bunch of questions, many of which--no doubt--have been asked and answered previously. I would sincerely appreciate any help! Thanks!
For whatever it's worth, this is my first post here, so my apologies if I've trampled any conventions!

1) Get the KKM intake. the best bang for the buck mod. 2) I don't know much about the 75mm maf but I would leave that for later. 3) Superchip I heard sucks on the SVT. Not really because its no good but its just not worth the money. And if you did get it then have it burned for your mods. 4) get either the bassani (loud) or the borla (quieter) exhaust. But the order you should go is KKM, Sho Shop Y-pipe (if you can ever get sho shop off their a$$ to actually send it to you), and then the exhaust.

Yeah, the MAF is for the more experienced/adventurous. Do that last, as it is very sensitive to mods.
Everyone here loves their KKM, if you have heat soak problems get a heatsheild (jc-aimhigher makes em for $60).
Good luck with the Superchip. I don't have one, but I've heard good and bad. Don't know the $$ for a reprogram.
With all the mods you described, I'd say only headers would require a reprogram of the chip. Anyone??? Am I wrong???
The chip wont fix the throttle hang, but the throttle hang fix will. I took mine out yesterday to open the hole 1/64" or so (RPMs drop a little too fast with the A/C on) and drove it around w/o the fix...man oh man how did I ever drive w/o the fix?! Try it, experiment with hole sizes, you just might like it. Good luck, and welcome!

I am fairly new also, but have been visiting the site for a while and have learned very much about the CSVT. With any vehicle(not just contours) any modification will affect the chip program, including intake and exhaust. I have heard that superchip will reprogram for about $75.00. I also have the MNQ2 code and was told that it was "unchippable". Keep reading the forums as you will learn a lot of helpful info.

1)KKM is a great first mod especially if you make or buy a custom airbox. Its truly easy to do yourself. 2)chip is iffy, variable results. Some risk of warranty issues. 3)Y-pipe is probably the best bang for buck with easy installation and limited warranty risk. Several choices from SHO-Shop, MSDS, Random technologies. 4)Catback (Bassini, Borla, SCA) good mod but more expensive than Y-pipe. Can get most of the same results with custom muffler shop installation of high flow resonator and mufflers. 5)Later, if your serious - headers, larger or polished throttle body and MAF, custom burned chip etc.
Would do Y-pipe/KKM first & see how you like it. Since you have the chip could try it & see what happens - it may work well.

Thanks for the suggestions--they truly are appreciated!
I ordered KKM and will get a heat shield.
I bought copper plugs and I'll try to fix the throttle hang problem as soon as I get a chance. (What size hole?)
Then I'll put in the Superchip, and we'll see what happens.
Later in the summer I'll do something with the exhaust. I'm going to need to take it to a muffler shop. I probably can't afford a cat-back system just yet, so I'll get a Y-pipe and replace the resonator (with glasspacks?) Actually, does the resonator make much of a difference? Should I just leave it?
Dan: Mine's a green '99 too! (#2434)
Thanks all!

search for TH fix on this site, and you'll get some suggested hole sizes. buy a few plugs and experiment. the smallest hole brought my RPMs down too fast...but each car varries. if you're planning on doing exhaust work later, i'd probably just leave the resonator in for now. it is a cheap mod, though, and can sound quite nice.

I have done most of the mods you posted about. I have the XGT1 for my ECU. I like it when it is in. About the post that said 75. I am not sure that is correct. I think it somewhat higher. I had to have Superchips put it on for me. Set the PATS system off once (Dealer had to program two new keys) and couldn't get it in and keep the car running the others. Got it back from Superchips and it is running great. My CEL has been on for awhile now and since the chip is in I doubt the dealer is going to do anything about it. Have yet to find out though. I would get the KKM or alt intake. Haven't tried the other so I can't comment. I have the pro-flow and (to me) isn't all that great. It is supposed to be nice if you get the *special* MAF sensor though. I am all about getting the Y-Pipe and Bassani. Just starting out I *shouldv'e* thought about getting the headers then doing custome exhaust. Hope it helps a little.

I am new to this too, so be gentle (no ferarie motor here). But just wanna know how to go about / where to buy a heat shield for my KKM Intake, I love it on most days, but seems to bog down on hot days. Also any preferences on a Y-pipe? That will be my next mod most likely.
