for those who have used the wheelskins leather steering wheel covers, did you remove the old leather or just put the new cover over it?

I haven't used them, but I'm sure that if you have an existing aftermarket cover, you'll have to remove it. If you're refering to the stock leather wrapped steering wheel, then no, I'd imagine you wouldn't remove it.

Utility knife is your friend.
Just slit the bottom of the factory cover along the threaded line. It will just peel off like wrapping paper.

And wheelskins brand wheel covers are ABSOLUTLY amazing and worth the 50 bucks. I ordered a custom 2 tone one for my Jetta and the quality is amzing, the lacing is very easy, liek the website siad, about 1 hour to do it. Anyone can lace it up, the instructions are crystal clear and when it's done, looks COMPLETLY factory. . I'll be ordering a custom 2 tone one for my CSVT pretty soon.
