Ok, sorry in advance about the long post. So it has been about a week since this happened but here is the story. I took my car up to Bandamere Speedway for test and tune. This is a 1998.5 SVT. People started lining up for the drags so I got my car in line early because I wanted to get as many runs in as possible, but little did I think about how sticky the track is for about the first 10 - 15 runners. I got to the line and did not warm up the tires because I figured it isn't good to do burns in an SVT. I got to the line, held the car at about 2500 - 2600 RPM's and the light turned green and I let off the clutch and I felt just a slight pop (not a big jolt, not a loud pop) and the car didn't move an inch. I could have it in any gear, reverse through 5th, and have the clutch out hit the gas and the car would sit there and just rev up. It is leaking transmission fluid at the moment. Any ideas what could be wrong? I'm already suspecting a blown transmission, i've had a few people tell me that it may be the clutch or the differential. Thanks for the help!

Differential, I would guess.
Just to be thorough, though:
Check your shifter cables, from the shifter itself in to the tranny. (pop the leather boot off in the shifter, and look for both cables to be connected.
Check the tranny side, as well, by having someone row through the gears while you watch the two cables do their thing. They should be just about even between the driver's side fender and the TB, about a foot from the firewall. One black and one blue (I think, blue...) SMALL chance that they both came off.. on either end.. (HIGHLY DOUBTFUL, and improbable, though... just trying to be optimistic..)
On an off note:
How is it that you took an E1 (That you apparently own) to the drags, but only have an auto SE listed in the sig? Unless you just got the car, but didn't update the sig, in which case you can ignore me.

The name that I originally am on is CoolSVT but I'm still waiting for the password to the user name so that I can get on it. As soon as I figure that out, then I will get on it. I don't believe it would be the cables, cause what would that have to do with the transmission fluid leaking? thanks for being optamistic (spelling?)

It wouldn't have anything to do with it. You are absolutely right.. Differential, my friend... do yourself a favor: if you plan on repairing this: search around the site (especially in the transaxle forum) for a guy named Terry Haines. He was a DESIGN engineer for the MTX-75 for the CDW-27 platform. I thin his email is: secondline@ameritech.com (or .net) either way.. search it out.. he is THE MAN to go to. flat rate of $400 plus parts and shipping to him.. Ray

Don't you think it would be cheaper if I just installed a new transmission myself? That would mean just buying a new transmission right? Or is there more to it than I am thinking? Because I would think that parts plus shipping and that $400 would come out to almost a grand, but a new transmission would be almost the same I just wouldn't have to wait as long for the transmission and it would come with a warranty... (short, but still a warranty)

just to let you know, there is no cheap way out of this. If you car is that torn down you are going to want to replace the clutch while its accessible (espicially if you've been taking it to the track), unless it has alreaady been replaced. Flywheel resurfaced. New trans. New LSD so you dont have this crap happen again. Parts for the new LSD. ..... no matter how you do this its not cheap. I just spent 2G's doing it all myself. I'd go with terry unless you think you are a really competent mechanic and have the necessary tools and space.
sorry to break the bad news to ya

The fact of the matter is this:
You COULD walk away cheaper doing it yourself, if you put a BARE, stock replacement in. however, you WOULD be looking at this same problem (synchros, I mean...)in the next 50 (75? more?) thousand miles. Terry's install can use revised bearings, new synchros, and updated parts on ALL 5 GEARS (smooth as buttah, no problems, no mo'...) That and an LSD so you don't blow the whole thing like this time..
You'll just have to bite the bullet and pay for this one, or decide if this car is worth it to fix (for you)
