He told me that the wire harness has issues on these cars and that I should talk with Mercury and complain even though it's over 107K miles.

Sad news... It was working fine but stopped working again.

The problem with a problem you are having is that it takes a great deal of time to troubleshoot and is not worth the amount of labor required. You wouldnâ??t pay $300 or $400 to get it fixed and your mechanics not going to spend all day with it for the $80 thatâ??s its worth. The â??itâ??s the wiring harness bring it to the dealerâ? is just the mechanics way of saying he doesnâ??t want to deal with it.

Do you have any other symptoms when it happens like dim panel lights or the fan slowing down?

Good news is I switch my car issurance to State Farm.

I was given a 96 Mercury Sable with only 44K miles on it. After driving this around I hate even thinking about the 98 Mercury Mystique with all its issues.

Well, the speedo/odo, low fuel light are still not working. Other than those on that one cluster everything seems fine.

Every now and then there is a problem with the fuel guage sender.
