Well Fellas, I plan on changing my wheel bearing in the next week or so. So I just happened to take my right side tire offf and it doesnt look hard taking off the spindle/ My major concern in the halfshaft. Can I get away with pulling out the halfshaft after I take it off by sliding it out from taking the spindle out?? Has anybody did it without using the tool??? Sorry I feel like a newbie and I should already know about this. Thanks guys.

Why would you remove the halfshaft when changing the wheelbearing? (the only side you need to remove is the spindle going in to the hub itself.)

Tie-rod end
axle nut (locking spindle nut.. do not re use this.. use a new one.. torque to 216ft/lbs)
brake caliper
rotor
spindle from the back side of the hub.
remove the hub from the strut
take it in for the bearing to be pressed out, and a new one pressed in..

reverse

Check out the how-to under duratec maintenance, under my how-to post if needed.

The axle nuts are one use only.

MAKE DAMN SURE you replace them.

The axle nuts give the bearing (yes it is 2 individual bearings sharing the same casing) proper preload and if not torqued correctly will lead to premature wheel bearing failure. (or worse)

FYI - TQ on the wheel nut is over 210 lb/ft.
