Can someone tell me the wiring schem. for the DRL relay? I'd like to at DRLs and I know the EASY thing to do is just to go pay Ford $25 for the relay, but I was just wondering how hard it would be to build one. I just need to know the wiring setup for the prongs. It's a 5 prong relay, and the only thing I've been able to tell about mine is the middle prong is 12v+, but all the others are 12v-. I figured if someone has the RDLs installed they can tell what the wiring setup is. Thanks for any help.

Not sure what you want to do here but DRL relay is not just a coil and contact relay, it has solid state internals as well. Pin-out is as follows; 1 bk Ground 2 o/w Hi beam indicator control 3 p/bl power(hot in run and start) 4 o/y Headlamp on feed 5 bk/gn DRL relay output control
Hope this helps.

Thanks... Just a project I'd like to play with, if it doesn't work I'll just buy the relay from Ford.

If your project doesn't work out I've still got the DRL relay I pulled from my car if you want it. I'm not too worried about the price so I'm sure we can work something out.

There are two ways to install DRLs on Contiques.
DRL is standard equipment on Canadian cars by law since about 1990. Many (but not all) Contiques sold in the US can be converted by just plugging in the Canadian relay. To see if you can do this, open the fuse box under the hood near the battery for inspection. If the car is ready for DRL conversion, you will notice an empty hole in the bak of relays. You will also notice a brass colored "shorting bar" joining two of the sockets. If the shoting bar is there, you can buy the Canadian relay and remove the shorting bar and install the relay. If there is no shorting bar, the car is missing the wiring to make the easy conversion.
The other way is to purchase the Ford (or other aftermarket) DRL kit and follow the instructions to install it. This kit can be installed no matter if the above mentioned wiring is there or not.
Bill Jenkins did have a link with a photo of the fuse box and relay hole with shorting bar. I don't know where to find it now, or if it still exists. Bill also had the Canadian part number, which seems to be hard to find in the catalog in the US. The part is easy to obtain if you have the part number.

Big Jim, Thanks for the info. I know about the relay location under the hood. I've been having problems w/ the local dealers in getting a relay. They can't even find a part number...I had to give it to them and then they weren't sure if they could get it blah blah blah...typical Ford Dealer crap...I decided to take a different approach, that's all.
