my first post (of course I join when I need something...lol). I tried archives but did not find anything about my problem with window. Bought 99 SE one month ago and noted that driver could not work the pas side front window(well, it did work it once),no big problem I tell my wife. Now an intermittant and seemingly random "no go" up on either of the swtches for the passenger front window. Down works perfect! There is no mechanical problem. I swapped switches with the back door, no improvement. I did notice one important thing--when you opperate any window, up or down, the little panel of window symbols on the switches dim momentarily indicating an appropriate "slight" voltage drop. EXCEPT when you push the button for "up" on the problem window. Is there a relay? or is the switch feeding the motor directly? Would the drivers master control switch be the culprit? I have the door panel apart and would appreciate any info. I would not have any problem testing the circuit but I have no schematic.
Thank you in adavance for any advise!!
Chris

There is some info here on power windows if you search.

I have a problem with passenger side power window. I found it to be the power connection was corroded and I cleaned the connection as good as I could. It always works in the summer but it sometimes will still hesitate in the winter. I am too lazy to remove the motor and really clean the connection like it needs to be. With the motor in place, access is limited.

Thanks!
now you say "power connection", where? is there more than one place to check the connection? I took apart the door wiring connection but had no idea which spade to check and couldn't figure out how to check the dash half of the connector.
Please understand that I have only had this Contour for one trouble free month--I have no manual or shop manual--does anyone have one for sale?? I guess I'm a geek; I normally like to check a schematic and logically check a system. Of course I have nothing against the appoach of checking the "likely culprits" first.
I will go back to the archives(?) etc. and comb through the window/ power threads. However my window is stuck "down" and it is getting to be a minor emerency to get it working asap, so if anyone can point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!
thanks,
Chris

The power connection at the motor. When I pulled out the connection, you could see all the corrosion. I cleaned the connection on the cord side. I was able to spray some anti-corrosion stuff in the motor connection and the window does work now. The right thing to do was to remove the motor and clean the connection but I was too lazy to bother.

I would remove the power connection from the motor and see if you have any corrosion.

my passenger side window does go up, but moves very slow for the first 2 inches. it moves even slower if operating 2 windows at once. i've heard that out power window motors tend to fail and need to be replaced. i believe its about $100-$125 to replace
