To "try" to put it simple, IT'S COLD!
Well, the car is COLD right? it needs more fuel to keep the engine warm, so therefore when it gets warm it uses less gas, in the fuel system, (warm=less gas) thats why you wait to let your car warm up in the winter before you drive it, the engine is made for running warm not cold now if it were made for running cold it'd be the opposite, which what kind of engine would run better cold anyhow?
I think this answer is quit obvious, I just don't know really how to explain it all that great.
