I have owned my 99 contour since new and have had no water leaks until a month or so ago. I checked the tail light assem and they are good.
I checked the trunk vents on either side and they are good.
So i opened the trunk lid and used a gallon jug of water and slowly poured water down the window seam (drivers side) and found no leak until I got to the top curve of the glass.
When I looked in the, trunk the water drips down and hits the inner side of the wheel well and will then pool at the rear of the trunk. I am thinking that the window seal let loose or the seam seal (where the side of the car is welded to the roof) is cracked or dry rotted.
Any help will be very grateful...

I had a very similiar issue, I just used the liquid silicone filler. It is the stuff that finds cracks/breaks and fills them in. Almost, 6 months now and not an issue anymore.

I am back... had a loaded 95 SE ATX... now I have a 98 Black SVT.
