So after so many hours under the hood trying to figure out what the "grinding/whistling" sound is, i am still stumped. I really think it might be a loose throttle cable. How do you adjust the throttle cable on a 98 E0 svt? My buddy and i could not figure it out. I loosened the throttle bracket and removed the cable from it to figure it out. But after trying to figure it out for a bit, i put everything back together and now i am idling at almost 500 RPM. I have to hit the gas when i come to a stop so it doesnt die, sometimes having to continuously blip the throttle. So of course trying to fix one problem, i cause another lol.

Also, is it possible to adjust the clutch? My clutch still has life(guessing 30-35% life) but the play has "moved". By "moved" i mean i dont have to push the pedal down as far to release the clutch as i used to and i have to push the pedal down farther to engage it. But the play still feels the same as it did 6 months ago, still takes the same effort, etc. Do i need to adjust the pressure plate?

One more thing... When i got the rough idle, i checked the spark plugs just to be safe and i noticed that the wires are loose. The wire connects to the spark plug fine and stays connected but the base of the wire that sits on the block is loose. i can literally jiggle it back and forth almost a full inch and pull up on it almost a half inch before it disconnects from the plug. Only a few of my wires do this. I dont think it's harmful but i just wanna be sure. Its very strange. I dont know if thats normal on 2.5s but i've never seen it before. I'd appreciate any help i can get

There is no throttle cable adjustment. If the cable is properly install, and if you have the correct one, everything should be ok. Unplug the cable from the throttle and the gas pedal and try moving it back and forth, maybe the cable is seizing.

You can't adjust the pressure plate pressure, the only thing you can adjust is the clutch pedal travel. Check at the base tof the clutch pedal, you will see a stopping screw, that's the adjustment screw. But i'm not sure that will solve your problem. You should check if your clutch is slipping.

Nic.
