Before I got my mystique I had them replace the suspension/ springs with original parts however I have been hearing a thump / thud sort of noise on bumps. It's like a loose but rather damped bounce sound. More precisely, It happens on those bumps where the suspension really moves under lower speeds, and the sound happens as the suspension moves up sounding like a rubber mallet on a water gallon!! ANy ideas please? Could it be that the strut nuts are not tight enough? so they bounce under heavy loads where the car is slow and the weight of the body sort of transfers from one side to the other?
Thanks.

Just an update, the noise is like hitting a rubbery suspension stopper would sound, but it appears almost everytime the suspension is moving up and down. It happens when suspension is getting compressed.

Is the noise in the rear? Might be the sway bar links or the pivot bushings. On my Mystique, the sway bar hit the floor, right rear, because both parts were worn out. It made a sound like you describe.
I had a similar sound fron the rr on my contour. It turned out that the sway bar mounting bracket had actually snapped at the weld. Just got it rewelded and now it is a lot less annoying. Hope it helps.
