How can I find the exact manufacture date for my car? I am about to try to put on a timing belt and tensioner, but there are two different belts available. One before 3/29/99 and one after that date.
It's a 99 4 Cylinder Zetec (VIN Engine Code=3)

There's a sticker on the door frame of the driver's door, it might actually be on the door itself, but it'll have the month/year of when your car was born... I'm pretty sure that this has been discussed before, so please always try to search before posting!

The door sticker that also has the VIN has the build month and year. Also, a dealer can run OASIS (if the car is less than 10 years old) which has the day, month, and year full build date.

On my Zetec the build date was on the engine itself. There is a bar code and date near the timing belt cover, to the left of the valve cover, IIRC.

That would be the engine build date, not the car build date. The engine was built first.
