2000? This is coming from a person who thought it was worth telling us he beat a Blazer. He prolly doesn't know how to read the tach.

Actually I usually shift around 2000K or even just under if I'm not really accelerating. If its just a slow and gradual building up of speed, I shift very low. If its normal driving I shift between 2-3K. The only time I shift higher is when I'm handing someone their ass I've got a 98 SVT. Usually if I'm cruising on an open road, I drive in 5th even if its like 35mph. No need to be in 4th. I see any additional revs as wear and tear on the moving parts. Even though I run synthetic, I try and baby the car somewhat. Its got about 140,000 miles on it right now.

The only problem with that is you end up with crazy carbon buildup in the engine. There ends up being more wear and tear as the engine is struggling to produce enough power.
But we all have our own driving habits.

I try to shift before the fuel cut. I gave up on trying to get good fuel mileage outta my car. It will never happen...but I might need to start shifting below 4K in town...headers/no cat and trubendz= very loud

Yeah, I'm the same way. I often skip 4th gear when I'm around 45-50.

I shift around 3,200 - 3,700. I try to keep it under 3,400 hundred mark right before the secondaries open. But its a little annoying. I fell like i am a grandpa driving my car!!

When the car is cold I try and shift at about 4500, once it warms up, traffic decides more than anythiung, but generally I shift around 6000-6500.

3000, or around for normal driving.
BTW: why only 6500 "or so"? The SVT makes its peak power to and above 6750 cut-off.
Shift at redline, or as close as possible for maximum power.
