It used to only do this for a second while driving down the raod. But now the speedometer/odometer stops and the fuel light cuts on. The car is driving fine though?

It likes to cut on while in reverse and stays on now until I stop and put the car in park. Once in park it normally jumps back to life. Sometimes driving fast also jumps it back to life.

I've read that a few other people had a problem like this, but no one ever posted an update on what fixed the problem. Before I go out and start buying VSS and TSS parts what else would cause this and where to start looking?

Do you have a Ford Service manual or Haynes manual ?

The wiring diagrams(Section 12 of Haynes) should show where the Speedo/odometer/fuel light get their signals from.

This should give you a reference of possible fault or at least some items to check.

If I get a chance tonight, I'll see what I can find in the Haynes.

Kind of waiting on my betterhalf to get home so I can take a look.

If I bang on the dash it comes back for a moment and the fuel
light comes on for a few seconds while driving around.

I've got the haynes..

crap.. I've taken it all apart and nothing. The light never comes on anymore hitting it. I drove down the road playing around with every wire. I removed everything I can think of and nothing. When I look at the back of the guages you can see that part of the power to going to the fuel light is also part of the speedometer. I don't understand the haynes charts.

Do you think it's possible that the speedometer is dead?
