OK, don't laugh at me. I am almost 40 and still using a cassette player in my car. My beautiful stock Ford am/fm/cassette player is starting to die (right channel cuts out frequently) and this is my chance to put in something halfways decent cause the Mrs. gives me her blessing because her car has a kick assish stereo and she feels sorry for me.

So here is the questions:
1) I want to change the stock speakers with something better, but no customer work to do...just bolt on using existing wiring...what do I get?

2) I want a half decent stereo but without any rewiring, amps, crossover bs...what do I get?

3) Gentle on the budget ause I still gotta finish the basement.

I would suggest goin to either cardomain.com or crutchfield.com

they both carry some good brands, have good customer service, and they can supply you with the adapters and crap that you'll need.

Try Best Buy. Most of them offer free instillation... but be prepared to drop another $30 for instillation from the wiring harness. If you like your OEM one, you should be albe to get another one cheap, here or on ebay. Unless you stay w/ OEM, you will have to get an adapter/harness, and some wiring will be involved.

The installation isn't free. I used to sell the harnesses for about $6-12 depending on the harness. The jacked up price is the installation fee.

OMG, anywhere but Best Buy. If you want to save tons of money from jacked up prices, do NOT go to Best Buy. They jack up there prices so much its insane. I used to work there so I basically know everything about the company. I'd choose Radio Shack, I bought 2 15's and a box for a good price from there. But anyway...carry on.

I got a Pioneer DEH-1500 for $89, and another $30 for the install, which included speaker savers. I have not had any problems, and think it is a pretty decent deal.
