My mom called me and said my grandmother wants to give her car away to one of the kids. Well, they are thinking about giving me her car. I'm sure about all the facts other than it's a silver 96 mercury with only 20K miles on it.

Right now I have a 98 Mystique with over 107K!

Her car is fully loaded with power seats and everything.

She has a mech guy that works her car, so it's up to par.

I could not tell what sort of engine it had, but it didn't look like a Zetec. Hard to tell since it's been a few years.

I'm about to buy a Minivan in the next few months. I don't think I can keep up with 3 rides.

So the question is... Do I go with the grandma driven car that has low miles, more bling, more power and paint job looks better? Only downside is it's a 96 and my car now is a 98 with a BAD VCT!

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...............

Car with 20K up to par?

Car with 107K not up to par?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...............

Unless you just simply love your car to death, go with the other one...Then again, I know nothing about the reliability of the Sable vs. the Mystique...

take the 96. It will last longe rconsidering old people don't normally abuse cars. Also you will have 70k more miles before it catches up to your car.

12k x 6 years equals 72k. In 6 years and less you will have that car to drive. Take that car. Place your contour under theft and fire warranty and keep it for a extra vehicle. Fire and theft is 50.00 and less. That is what i would do.

Yeah, I think I'm going to take the car. I like the silver color more than the baby blue. From what I recall it has more room inside and a bigger engine. Might be a 3.0L V6? I would not know what engine that is though.

It will be the vulcan standard ohv 3.0liter or the 3.0liter duratec dohv.

Either way its a nice car. If it is the standard 3.0 liter OHV tha tthing will run for ever. Trust me. My friend has a tarus with 287,000 miles and only replaced the trans at 170k.

I had a ford ranger with the 3.0 and i had 178,000 miles. No engine probles what so ever. Good engine. Ford has used that enginbe for 26 yrs and counting!!

I've never heard of a Votex? So it might have a Duratec?
Right now anything sounds better than a Zetec with a VCT.
