ok, i finally got the money to buy a cd player to complete my system. Bought an Alpine. Dunno which model all i can tell you is the face rotates into 3 different positions. The question is, am i gonna hafta buy a installation kit for it or does the player just sit in the console. I didn't take anything apart yet but from the looks of it, it should just slide right in.

peace

You'll need the install kit for the car and you will definitely want to bypass the premium sound amp if your car has premium sound. The Alpine will BLOW AWAY the factory amp, no question about it. I know some of the high-end Alpine HU's required that you run a power lead right to the battery, but those were the ones that had the built in V-drive amp which I don't think they make anymore.

I've got an Alpine 9807, bought it as a display model about a year ago. Its been awesome!

what 99mystique said.

I didnt need anything special w/ my 9833 install. The Alpine came w/ the sleeve and the face plate. All I had to do was a simple swap. I did have to run a power wire straight from the batt directly to the HU b/c of the extra juice the V-drive amp requires (Alpine strongly recomends this). Yes you definatly want to bypass your stock amp as mentioned. Not sure if yours has the V-drive amp like mine but even if it doesnt it will still be better than the POS amp ford threw in there.

If its the 9835 or 9833 it has the V-drive amp. If its a 9831 or below it does not (a 9831 is identical to the 9833 minus the V-drive). Alpine stopped making V-drive for all the 2005 models.
