well I had my egr changed

the part number on the egr is -F53E-9D475-A2A- different from whAt the slm catalog shows for my 95 v6 atx

2.0L Eng Valve, EGR F5RZ-9D475-A $133.64 $106.91

2.5L Eng Valve, EGR 95-98 F5RZ-9D475-B $80.67 $64.54

2.5L Eng Valve, EGR 99-00 XL3Z-9D475-DA $69.07

Yet the box the part came in showed the correct number ending in the letter -b-. I have seen parts placed in the incorrect box before. Can someone tell me what car part number -F53E-9D475-A2A- is for?

Okay then my car no longer stalls but it almost stalls rpms dropping to almost zero before the pcm catches itself. Also after driving the car for a bit when I put it in park the idle stays at 1000 for a bit. Now I remember reading that this is of sympton of a different part that needs to be cleaned out the IAC but that I have done.

Any thoughts?

Slow return to idle can be caused by:
Vacum leaks, Throttle linkage, Throttle body or the Air intake system.

Low or slow idle can be caused by:
Vacum leaks, IAC, Air intake tubes or Wiring connections.

chongo, another symptom I seem to have now is every now and then while the car is stopped in drive or in park the rpm will begin to oscillate from 350 - 500 rpms before settling down on a higher rpm. What could be causing this.

"Vacuum Leaks

First, look for vacuum leaks! Vacuum leaks introduce unmetered air, causing a lean mixture and rough running.

Is your oil filler cap tight?
Is your oil dipstick tight?
Any cracked vacuum hoses or loose connections?
Any cracks in the intake boot?(taken from a 325 forum"

If you've never checked the PCV valve hosing, it's a good place to start.
The plastic hose that runs from the valve down the firewall to the emission valve by the power steering pump.
This plastic hose can develop pin holes and cause stalling, idling issues.
Becareful as your car is of age, the hose can be very brittle and break just by touching it...Trust me..
I had an EGR code and it turned out to be this hose and DPFE.

Did you try to test the MAF?

Sounds like a vacum leak to me.

If it's a miss, stall or low idling (step on gas to keep alive) on a warm engine and no cold engine problems,
I may suggested the fuel pump.
Pressure test the fuel line.

Well's for instance shows that 95 through late 99 V6's all use EGR284. (Their part number)

It's ~$44.

The EGR as well as the UIM were revised in late 99. (FYI on the new part numbers)

According to Wells F53E-9D475-A2A crosses to their EGR284.

The EGR valve that I took off my 1995 V6 had both part numbers F53E-9D475-A2A (on the top) and F5RZ-9D475-B (on the side) on it.

The new one only had the F53E-9D475-A2A part number.
