I really like IRiver stuff...the H10 looks great, gets consistently good reviews, has a removeable battery, FM and voice recording, and you don't have to deal with Apple fanatics assuming that you drink from the same Kool-Aid pitcher. That there is worth $20 for me. I also hear that the Zen Micro is nice. I'd go with either Creative or IRiver.

I strongly suggest the Rio Karma. 20 gig, with at least 15 hours of battery life. It's in my opinion the best value on the market right now. They can be had for about 160 on ebay as a refurbished unit.

I've heard Creative is junk, actually. Any truth to this?
I don't mind paying extra, it's not for me, I've got an iPod myself.
I'm thinking iRiver.

I have a Creative Zen Xtra 30 Gb. Love it. A little bigger than the Ipod, but half the price and works fabulously.
