Ok I am sure that I will be flamed for this but I was thinking about trying to get a V-8 from a mustang or something of that nature and trying to mount it in the SVT. I know that it would be a lot of work but this is a project I am thinking about doing over a period of time. I was also thinking of converting it to rear wheel drive and using an independant rear suspension. Once again I know this would be a lot of work, but I love the way the tour looks and I would just like to do something that hasn't been done and would be original. Let me know what you think. But please be gentle cause I know this probably won't go over to well with you all, but it was an idea and I wanted everyones opinion. Thanks

negative-doubt you could jam an 8 in there, the engine compartment is pretty cramped as it is. it would definitely need extensive modifications for sure.

the positive-that'd be badass as all hell

I don't really know a whole lot about swapping engines, but if you could pull it off, I'd praise you

the short answer: not possible

long answer: search. the reasons have been discussed numerous times, and there are too many for me to type out.

I thought about building a V-8 Daytona once. Mopar even makes a kit to do it. After doing the research I desided not to, the cost for the fabrication would of been way to high over 20 grand not counting the price of car, motor, trans, paint, suspention etc. Then saw an artical in a mag about a guy that did it. He had almost 50 grand into it by the time he was done. It was neat to be sure but way beyond my ability and pocket book.

if you have very very deep pockets, lots of fabricating skill and a burning desire to do this then anything is possible. it will, however, be very difficult and time consuming. i have heard, possibly rumors, that a few ceg'ers are quitely working on this. i for one would like to see this just not using a svt.

LIke I have said before, who needs a hood, fenders, front bumper, and wheel wells? Put a 460 in there and drive like mad!

Get a REALLY small V8 like a LS V8 and then you'd probably have to go solid beam rear axle and about elventy thousand bucks worth of fabrication and you might do it - but I'd rather build a 3L with a Turbo and call it a day - a fast, smoke-filled, fun day!
