OP Hodge Podge CEG\'er H Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 75 Ohio	I was driving down the street off of mine today, and i was pulled over. I think to my self wtf is this about now. Cop walks up and asks if he knows why he pulled me over, I kindly say "no sir", honestly not knowing why he was wasting my time. He tells me it is illegal in the state of Ohio to have any aftermarket exhaust what so ever. Not regarding emissions or dtb reading. I have a stock contour svt exhaust with 2 ractive mufflers, bought it from the dealership like this. I'm like WOW, I couldnt believe what he was saying. He said that it is 100% legal to buy an exhaust or maybe dark tint, but once you get on the street you are committing a crime. I got a $110 ticket If anyone knows anything about this Id like to have some input so I could fight it in court, cause there is no way I am paying it, good day Slow ass svt

Look up your state vehicle code on line. There will be a specific setion regarding acceptable vehicle modifications. If your exhaust is with in the legal limits, cite the vehicle code section in court. The ticket will be tosses. If not, file appeal and sue.

I grew up and still live in the NE, Summit county and Stark county, been driving and modifing cars for 30 years around this area and have never heard of an exhaust law except in regaurds to retaining the Cat. and a certain DB level. I have never been pulled over for a modified system. You might be running into a local ordinance though, some cities, towns, counties have stricter laws than the state does. You need to check it out before court. If you have to pay you should be able to go back on the dealer they can not by law sell an illegal car to anyone.
