Argh - OK - I figure I'll fix things up, just a bit. I figure, even if I give the car away I do not want to screw someone.
So, I had the vehicle inspected bout a month ago. PA requires safety and emissions. The guy doing the work presented me with a list of things needed to pass inspection and a few others. I had him do only what was required to pass inspection (Breaks, exhaust, a new tire, etc.). OK, so anyway As I originally posted he said it needed a new timing belt and EGR valve. Also, the AC doesn't blow cold.
I bought a new timing belt and AC recharge kit, EGR valve on order. I figured I would start with AC first. Gauge on kit shows full! Ug. out $20. No EGR valve in hand and a very intimidating set of instructions for the timing belt. I decide to just pull the cover off and look at the belt. The belt looks GREAT! Tension was good. I seem to recall having the belt changed once before.
OK - Now I'm suspicious of the guy who told me I needed a new timing belt and EGR valve. he told me the CEL indicates the valve. I do not have the code. After lurking here it seems I may NOT actually need a new EGR valve. Something called a DPFE ?? What is a DPFE?
Ug
Anyone want this thing for cost of title transfer and a $20 can of refigerant?
