Not looking for anything special, I'm no photographer. Mostly I just want something small that I can take photos of me and my friends with. Any suggestions?
now officially a troll, i guess. used to have a black 96 SE, until it broke down one too many times.
now I'm hunting for a motorycle.

how about this one? seems pretty cheap and 4 megapixels is more than enough.

I have a Cybershot DSC-P10 and absolutely love it. Also heard good things about Canon ... so those are the two brands you'll most likely want to consider.

I have the PSC-P8. Now working for Best Buy - Geek Squad tech desk, i notice a few Sony Cybershots come in for servicing, the ones with the lens cover that opens automatically, they get stuck open, with a can of compressed air, they can clean the dust out and make the camera good as new Now, if you take CARE OF your camera, it shouldnt be a problem, and the Cybershot will be a great camera Avoid Kodak btw, those come in alot...

i have a Sony W1 and T1. both fantastic cameras. I sell digital cameras on ebay. i highly recommend the Sony's (like the two i have) and the Canons. I find the Canon S500 to be very popular. Some Sonys have a 2.5" lcd which is really sweet. also be aware of battery types. The T1 uses a special lithium battery. if youre somewhere and the battery dies, you cant just walk into 711 and buy some duracells (you can with the W1 and W5). while I prefer Sony, the memory sticks are unreasonably overpriced. especially the new ones, the Duo. Canon uses compact flash, which is realllly affordable. just something to keep in mind. ive had Kodak. very user-friendly but not the best stuff out there. my Kodak was not very battery efficient. it would die on my at the worst times. ive had my sony for about six months and only recharged the batteries once

I had a Canon G1 for 4 years. This year I bought a Sony DSC-W1.
Awesome camera for the price. 5MP, Zeiss optics, fast fast and sharp sharp. Now there are better cameras, but for the price, can't beat it. Battery life is ridiculously good. And it uses AA cells too. BIG selling point.
The other BIG selling point is the 2.5" LCD. Nothing else comes close.
I was always a fan of Canon but every recent Canon suffers from chromatic aberrations which is bloody annoying.
Now they have the W5 (same as W1 but with 32MB built in memory) and W7 (7MP version).

I'd grab either a Canon A510 or A520 depending on whether you want 3 or 4mp.
I have both a Canon A10 (1mp point-and-shoot) and a Digital Rebel XT (8mp DSLR) and have always been happy with their stuff. The fact that they use CF is a bonus too.
