I just had my fuel pump replaced a month ago because the car was vibrating hard at idle and shifting hard and now its happeneing again. Plus all of a sudden it's like its getting NO gas untill i floor it at which point it literally jumps to life.

i know there are a few old threads about the fuel pump but the information is in bits and peices that I can't really sort out. Could someone school me on the issue as far as the "bad" fuel pump is concerned? That way i can explain to my mechanic what i need done and not just be told i need another expensive fuel pump.

It doesn't go till you floor it??? might not be the pump...that could be a number of things. be good to know what engine (zetec(4) or Duratec(6)) and atx or mtx. Also what mods, mileage, and maintance done to it.

It could be that injectors are crap or are clogged. that would cause a lack of gas until the pressure built up enough to escape. You may even be due for plugs(poor ignite = lots of unburnt gas). Thats my $0.02. I'm sure some other guys can chime in.

oh by the way you don't have a CEL do you?

I doubt the pump would be going again that soon. The reason they go in the first place is becuase of the round disc filter on the bottom of the pump housing getting clogged. A sure fire sign of the pump going bad is if the problem gets worse as the fuel level goes down. Your symptoms don't sound like a fuel pump either.
