I want to add a set of pillar gauges to my 99SE. A search here lead me to spmotorsports where they have a 3 gauge pod for about $50. I'm a bit confused on the install of the actual gauges. Is there a detailed how-to for different gauge types? (I think I found the air/fuel install, seems rather easy) Does each gauge need the actual gauge and a sending unit, or do only certain types of gauges need sending units while others just get spliced into existing wiring?

Also, what is the best combination of gauges that is functionally useful, while keeping in mind that the install should be rather simple since I'm no mechanic. I'm thinking something like an oil pressure gauge would be out of the question for me. A few posts here revealed that other owner have some combination of volt, Boost , air/fuel, and the fuel pressure. I have no idea what the Boost or air/fuel would even be telling me....

thanks for any advice or direction you can offer,
Tom

Each guage will come with its own instructions on how to install it. Most common are air/fuel, volts and oil pressure, as the duratec is known for commiting suicide on hard right hand turns. But volts is a simple two, maybe three wire hookup, air/fuel is a lil more involved, but i dont think its just more then locating and wiring. But oil pressure i do believe you will need the sending unit, which would have to be mounted in then engine somehow.

Boost would not pretain to you unless you go with a turbo or supercharger.

i went digital, volt and tach, never got around to a third gauge. i got the second tach because its more acurate, but also it just moved around alot, so it was flashy.
