I have an area 2-3" long along the rear tire wells that has peeled off and the metal behind is rusted red. It is not bubbly and falling off but obviously rust has been enough to force the paint to peel off in a complete strip. The condition is on both sides but worse on one than the other. QUestion is do I have any chance going to ford and looking for a rust through warranty work ? Vehicle is a 98 mystique with 75,000 miles / 120,000 km.

Probably not. I turned down the recent rust warrnat on y wife's car because of this. According to tht dealiership the rust would have to cause a 'hole'. I asked them to quantify the term 'hole' but they could do no more than explian it would be a 'hole'.
Sounds, from my expereince (even drunk & dperessed), that they will only fix a major rust problem, which you would never see withing their warranty period.

My advice, try and see. See whatyou can find makes a waranty call .. then maybe help it along!

Oh, I had a major rust problem and they still turned me down within the 5 years...fcukin bastards. I am going to sue them this summer.

The rust warranty is for rust "perforation". Perforation means "hole". Basically there needs to be a hole through the metal. Peeling paint is only covered for 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first.
