No cat will garner a couple peak HP (1-3 max) over a high-flow unit. That's about it.

Also the SHOShop offroad pipe has a spot to add a cat later if you want/need to.

Merlin why do you have less HP with the chip installed?

My guess on the chip is that it only really increases bottom end power by adjusting different signatures of the car. By adjust timing at the bottom end some more TQ can be tricked out of the car.

My guess on HP drop is dealing with timing on the top end and restrictions. My car can rev atleast to 7200 ( Don't do it even with 100 octane) and it kinda makes you go uhh I don't like those weird sounds. I experiment with 3rd gear at the track. Well, I think that the cat being free'd up/removed alows for the biggest bottle neck of the tour to be removed, allowing for bigger gains. All dyno's I have seen with the chip&Y are great togeather. As for just chip dyno's??? It just depends how it's burned.

Warren at Kurtz Kustomz burned mine and said I would feel a gain in tq. Some have hp gains but with pinging. I have TQ gains with pinging with pooor gas.

Chris,
Sorry it took so long. Yeah, 65w vs. 55w for the high beams and low beams, respectively. There's definately more light. Noticed more of a difference with the driving light 883/885 swap.

Also, I agree with Merlin. The cat (or cats in our cars cases) are big bottle necks in the exhaust. And really, do we need THREE??? You're going to get more power w/o the cat.

So they do offer a Y-pipe that has a removeable cat right. One that i can use on the street, and than take out for track use?

Anyone know how hard or time consuming (Minus getting under the car) to take the cat out of the removable one?

Sho shop said " the high flow cat is removable" I did not ask any farther into that.

IIRC my SHO Shop Y pipe is in 4 (maybe 3 I forget)pieces. The front pipe, the rear cylinder pipe, the cat, and (IIRC) a stub pipe from the cat to the remining exhaust. The Cat is a two pipe in, one pipe out (it merges the flow internally).

The "Off road" system replaces the cat with another section of pipe that accomplishes the merge. It should be 'convertable' from one to the other.

In any case, the power gain was significant in low to mid-range with some (smaller) upper-end gains. Yes I have a superchip as well and agree the combo chip, Y, and cat-back make a good improvement in both power and sound. Hope this helps.

We have a place around here that will do anything including, removing the cat. But, I dont want to have the "check Engine" Light to come on.. Will it if I remove the cat and install a off-road Y-pipe??
Thanks,
Joe
